California leads the nation with a 65% recycling rate for all materials.
In July 2012, Assembly Bill 341 went into effect. This state mandate is written to reduce Green House Gas (GHG) emissions by diverting commercial solid waste from the landfills through recycling efforts. AB 341 sets a recycle goal of 75% of solid waste by 2020, advancing the recycling guidelines set by AB 939 in 1989 and implemented via the Integrated Waste Management Act.
The new bill requires businesses that produce four cubic yards of waste or more weekly to be in compliance via recycling, reduction and composting.
Reduce Waste via Donation
Sustainable Surplus offers businesses a means to reduce their solid waste through donation.
We can provide you with a report measuring your diversion by category and weight, which you can use for reporting to your corresponding jurisdiction. This information helps your company meet its diversion rates, monitored by the California Department of Resources Recycling and Recovery (CalRecycle).
